Bookkeeper Embezzled $1.5 Million from Employer

Police say that a woman in San Diego, California spent years stealing money from her employer. Although the crime ended when she left the position back in 2007, her white collar crimes were discovered by a bookkeeper who finally caught on to the scandal. According to the San Diego police department, J.D. worked as a bookkeeper for a real estate company. She used her position to pay off her own credit card debts in a variety of ways. The suspect established a fake business and started writing herself business checks as well as opened counterfeit credit cards. In total, J.D. is believed to have funneled at least $1.5 million into her own bank account.

She was arrested for embezzlement and is currently being held at a California jail on $2 million bail.
