Man Arrested for Carrying Fake Shotgun in Public
Police in San Diego, California arrested a man last week for carrying what looked like a loaded shotgun. When they arrived on the scene, they quickly learned that it was not as it appeared. The suspect, 26-year-old H.L., was walking in broad daylight wearing army pants and loading what appeared to be a shotgun. Officers responded to the call and alerted the man of their presence. He responded by immediately dropping to his knees and releasing the weapon. The shotgun was later determined to be a replica and it is uncertain why the suspect was carrying it around in public.
H.L. was formally charged with displaying or disposing an imitation firearm in a public place. Even though it was not a real gun this act fell under the category of weapon crimes as dictated by state law. He was taken to a local jail and released on $20,000 bail. Courthouse records show that the suspect is scheduled to be arraigned next week. Are you facing charges for committing a weapon crime?
