Police Apprehend Murder-Kidnapping Suspects
A police hunt for the suspects behind a kidnapping and murder in the West Side have been apprehended by police in Cook County. The man was brought to a garage on the West Side where he was bludgeoned on the head and stabbed to death.
One of the suspects, Keith Watts, 34, is being held on an $800,000 bond, according to Tandra Simonton, spokeswoman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office. His preliminary hearing has been set for December 16. Watts is being charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the kidnapping and murder of Francisco Favela, as well as aggravated kidnapping and aggravated unlawful restraint.
Murder charges were finalized on Wednesday for Darnell Stokes, 38, who also faces charges of aggravated unlawful restraint and kidnapping. The third suspect, Jeremy Borders, 36, was charged with murder, kidnapping, and aggravated unlawful restraint.
Favela, of Berwyn, was kidnapped around 1:45 P.M. in the 2200 block of South Keeler Avenue. After an official autopsy, his death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner's office.
