Murder Suspect Caught Trying to Cross Mexican Border
Perhaps thinking that enough time had passed to avoid detection, a man suspected of a Chicago murder attempted to cross the Mexican border to no avail.
Officers with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol arrested Alfredo Marin Ramirez, now 39, when he asked for a waiver to enter the country. Since he didn't have the proper documents to enter the U.S., he needed the waiver, providing officials with Mexican documents, including his Mexican birth certificate. However, when they scanned his fingerprints they matched to a suspect from a warrant that had been issued on April 11, 1994.
The warrant was for the April 2 murder of the same year. Details from the murder are still sketchy, but it is known that another suspect was charged in the murder, but acquitted the following year.
Ramirez is now being held at the San Diego County Jail until his next court appearance on Tuesday morning.
