Police Still Arresting Shooting Suspects

Police are still arresting suspects in connection to a shooting that took place in Carlsbad earlier this month.

Michael Gault, 30, Joseph Verkade, 34, and Heather Strauch, 32, were taken into custody at a home in the 2300 block. According to Carlsbad police Sgt. Mickey Williams, additional evidence from the April 1 murder of Michael Michel Sahugan was found in the home. 

Sahugan, 63, was discovered in his own garage with a shotgun wound to his chest. Police have also arrested Mercedes Yorba, Gary Gomez and Grant Hunter in connection to the murder. Gomez has already pleaded not guilty to being an accessory after the fact, while both Hunter and Yorba pleaded not guilty to second-degree burglary and murder charges. The three newest suspects were arrested on various robbery and murder related charges.
