Actor from CHIPS faces Fraud Charges
Although he once played on officer on the TV series "CHIPS" Larry Wilcox, 63, now finds himself on the other side of the law. The actor was found guilty of conspiring to commit securities fraud and was sentenced to three years probation.
Wilcox went before U.S. District Judge James I. Cohn who imposed the probationary period rather than the maximum five year prison sentence he could have received. However, Wilcox must also perform 500 hours of community service and pay a $100 fine. Showing remorse for his actions, or perhaps just acting out another role, Wilcox was observed wiping away tears when he spoke before the court.
He is best known for his role on CHIPS as Officer Jonathon "Jon" Baker alongside fellow actor Erik Estrada. Wilcox was on the show for years but left a year before the show ended in 1983.
