The Tootsie Bandit Finally Arrested in San Diego
The "Tootsie Bandit" has finally been taken into custody by San Diego police after robbing three banks. Robert Deon Tyndall II was thus named for the outfit he wore during one hold-up that included a necklace, blond wig, scoop-neck blouse and padded bra.
Tyndall was taken into custody without incident by a team effort between the FBI, El Cajon and San Diego police at his Hillcrest apartment. When they arrived police discovered the getaway vehicle that had been identified by several witnesses and money from the multiple robberies.
He is expected to be charged with robbing the Torrey Pines Bank in San Diego on Feb. 1, the Comerica Bank in San Diego on Jan. 24, and the Inland Federal Credit Union in El Cajon on July 16. It was during his first robbery in El Cajon that Tyndall was described as being dressed like a woman; for the other two robberies he went simply as a masked man.
