101 Drunk Drivers Arrested in San Diego Over New Year Holiday
The New Year's holiday brought tragedy to one family in San Diego County when they learned about the death of their loved one. The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the accident where Kelly McPherson, 53, was struck by a drunk driver while attempting to cross Murray Drive.
Dana Lohner, 48, was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving.
During this same period last year three people were killed while 101 drunken driving suspects were arrested. Throughout the state officers with the California Highway Department took in 961 DUI suspects while 25 more died on roadways; last year there were 1,388 arrests and 36 deaths.
