Son Attacks Father with Samurai Sword
John Cahan of San Diego was arrested over the holiday weekend for wounding his father with a samurai sword in his home. The 69-year-old was critically wounded and taken to the local hospital to be treated.
According to San Diego Sheriff Mark Varnau, "Cahun swung the sword several times over this father and then brought it down, striking his lower leg." Although Cahun did deliver a potentially fatal blow, he did return later on in an attempt to stop the bleeding. However, he did wait nearly 90 minutes before calling 911 to help his father.
At that time he attempted to convince emergency medical services that his father had tripped accidentally while sleepwalking. The father soon cleared that story up, however, by stating that his son was his attacker.
The Sheriff's Department doesn't have a motive for the attack, but they will test Cahun for drugs.
