Woman Enters Plea for Shooting of Her Own Son
Josephine Mary Ring, 66, pleaded not guilty last week premeditated murder in the fatal shooting of her own son in their home last week.
The victim, 48-year-old Vincent John Bonfiglio, was found dead by emergency medical personnel who were called to the scene by Ring. When she called 911 on Dec. 19 Ring stated that she had shot her son. Police revealed that the gun used in the shooting was a .357-caliber Magnum.
Deputy District Attorney Samantha Begovich reports that Ring faces a sentence-enhancing gun-use allegation which could mean a 50-year stay in prison if so convicted.
Ring was taken to jail from a health care facility in La Mesa where she has remained under a doctor's care since the shooting of her son.
Bonfiglio was a one-time used car salesman who was living on disability before the fatal shooting.
