Major Drug Bust Nets 43 Arrests
A major drug bust resulted in the arrest of 43 people last week in the San Diego region as part of an operation conducted by local law enforcement officers.
According to the San Diego Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, officers from both agencies worked over the week to serve search and arrest warrants to dozens of individuals believed to be part of a drug ring.
As a result of the operation, the agencies believe that certain criminal organizations manned by suspects that were arrested will be disrupted, if not entirely destroyed. In addition to narcotics trafficking, many of the arrested suspects are believed to have caused serious bodily damage to opposing drug rings as well as law enforcement officers.
The charges listed in the arrest warrants ranged from
armed robbery and
homicide to
possessing methamphetamine and
illegal firearms. Overall, officers found $800,000 worth of firearms while conducting their operation.
