Driver Facing Vehicular Manslaughter and Hit And Run Charges
One man learned the hard way that you really do need to slow down in construction zones or someone could lose their life.
According to California Highway Patrol Capt. Jose Vasquez, 42-year-old Kyle Pearson struck and killed a California Department of Transportation worker while driving down Interstate 8. Pearson now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony
hit-and-run for the death of Jaime Obseo. He reportedly fled the scene of the accident, but also suffered major undisclosed injuries in the process of doing so.
Although Pearson was placed under arrest immediately after capture, he was first taken to the University of California San Diego Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Police reports show that Pearson veered into the area where Obeso, 53, was working, striking him fatally. The CHP is working with the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team to complete their investigation of the car accident.
