Former Mayor Arrested

The Mexican military issued a press statement this week announcing the arrest of the former mayor of Tijuana.

According to the report, Jorge Hank Rhon, 55, was arrested, along with two other men. During the sweep, officers discovered nearly 100,000 rounds of ammunition along with 88 weapons. Rhon was taken into custody at his private compound. This didn't come as a surprise to Mexicans who have kept up with the rumors that Rhon is connected to organized crime. These rumors, spanning back several decades, have accompanied Rhon even while he was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party.

Rhon has reportedly thrown several philanthropic events each year to support underprivileged children. It is uncertain whether they events were funded by money raised from weapons sales.
