Man Facing Child Pornography Charges
After investigating the actions of a former Collier County resident, local officials were able to arrest him for assorted sex crimes.
Police reports show that 22-year-old Brian Gerardo Escobedo was arrested for one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He is now awaiting extradition to Florida after being arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol in San Diego's port of entry. While he was seen by a judge in California, he will be sentenced by a judge in Florida where the crimes occurred.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Fort Meyers and Orlando Innocent Images Task Forces, have been working to gather enough evidence against Escobedo to arrest him. What they discovered was an exchange of images between Escobedo and another individual online while he was living in Ave Maria last year.
