Murder Investigation Keeping Authorities Busy
A murder in Cherokee Point is keeping law enforcement officials busy.
According to police reports the suspect, 19-year-old Edgar Rodriguez, was taken into custody last Thursday for the brutal stabbing of a 57-year-old man. Officers were alerted to the murder scene when a passing motorist noticed a body on the corner of University Avenue and 39th Street.
Little is known about the victim, other than he appears to be Peruvian and living or visiting the United States. Until the police department have been able to contact the Peruvian consulate to locate the next of kin and confirm his identity, no more information will be released to the public.
Rodriguez faces a possible charge of murder. The motive for the stabbing has not yet been uncovered by the investigating officers.
