Sailor's Wreckless Actions Lead to Gunshot Injury
A sailor found himself in a world of trouble this week when his reckless actions ended with him getting shot in the stomach.
When the Navy police noticed that the sailor appeared to be drunk driving through the gates of the San Diego base on Saturday they attempted to stop him. Instead he sped away, hitting several police cars in the process. Officers finally got a shot out and were able to stop him.
According to a Navy spokesman the sailor was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen that required surgery. Although his condition after the surgery is not yet known, the Navy still plans on bringing him into custody once he is well enough to be transported. Scott Sutherland of the San Diego base said that cases like this are "extremely rare."
There was another sailor in the car at the time that was let out before the chase began. He could also face charges.
At this time the Navy is not releasing any further comments about what charges the young men could face, possiblyDUI, nor the name and rank of the sailors.
