Veteran of San Diego Police Force Facing Sex Crime Charges
A veteran of the San Diego Police Department now faces charges from three women who have accused him of trying to elicit sexual favors from them.
Officer Anthony Arevalos, 40, is an 18-year veteran of the department. According to SDPD Lt. Andra Brown he has been charged with false imprisonment, sexual battery and assault under the color of authority. The last time this happened was on March 8 when Officer Arevalos pulled over a 32-year-old woman outside the Gaslamp Quarter, who reported the crime of sexual assault the next day.
Police remembered a similar complaint for sex crimes filed against the officer dating back to February 2010. This was compounded when a 21-year-old student of San Diego State filed a separate complaint for an incident on Dec. 29th she told the authorities that she was pulled over, asked to exit her vehicle and subjected to several "inappropriate" comments. Arevalos asked questions like "What do you have under that coat?" and "Can we go to my back seat?" However, when a second officer arrived on the scene he gave her a simple citation and released her.
