Officer Arrested in San Diego for DUI
Police officers found themselves arresting a fellow officer in San Diego this week.
According to police reports, Officer William Johnson was driving his own vehicle when he ran into another vehicle at a stoplight at Paseo Ladera. When responding officers came they determined that Johnson, a 12-year-veteran was intoxicated. He was charged with DUI and released the next morning on his own recognizance.
Johnson is not the first officer in recent history to find himself in legal trouble. He joins several other active duty officers who have been charged with varying degrees of criminal conduct. This increase in law enforcement officers finding themselves behind bars, Chief William Lansdowne will discuss his plan to combat this disturbing trend in a news conference next week. Other charges that have recently been levied against fellow officers include sexual battery under the color of authority and stalking.
