Drug Crimes Suspect Returned to U.S.
A repeat criminal offender was picked up in Guam and transported back to California to be detained in Las Colinas.
The 43-year-old woman, previously convicted on drug crimes, was on the mainland of Guam to visit her sick mother. She was given special permission to visit her mother in Guam despite her past record. Yet when new evidence surfaced that connected her to crimes of check forgery and burglary, police were on her trail again.
She was detained at an airport and then transferred to Las Colinas. Although the arrest warrant was five years old, law enforcement officers could not enforce it until she returned to California. It is uncertain whether she knew this and returned knowing she could be arrested, or whether it was a complete surprise when she landed.
The suspect has since been charged with 10 counts of forging checks and two counts of burglary. She has pleaded guilty to one count of each since being charged.
