Officer Facing Sexual Assault Charges
While police officers are supposed to uphold the law, not all of them do. In some cases, officers will use their position of power to obtain favors from citizens, such as sexual favors. That is the case of a former San Diego police officer that now faces multiple accusations of sex crimes.
Evidence discovered in a locker last week will only serve to strengthen the prosecution's case against the former officer. A pair of panties containing the DNA of one of the women who filed a complaint against the suspect was found in the locker, which is also being tested to see whether the officer's DNA is present.
In total, seven women have filed criminal complaints against the officer, all claiming that he convinced them they could avoid charges by performing sexual favors. All claimed that he would pretend to pull them over for DUI and would then threaten to arrest them if they did not sleep with him.
Although the jury was not allowed to hear all of the evidence gathered against the former officer, the prosecution believes that its case is strong enough to convict him.
