Vehicle Thieves Commit Armed Robbery
Two men not only stole a vehicle, but then used it to commit an armed robbery.
The vehicle was stolen from a neighborhood in San Diego, California and used the next day as the getaway vehicle in Spring Valley. Based on the description of the two men and the vehicle they were driving, along with the missing car report, a BOLO was issued to all law enforcement personnel in the area. Within a few hours, an undercover officer spotted the vehicle.
He waited for the men to return to the car, matched their descriptions to the one given by the victims, and then approached them. Even though he and another officer approached the suspects with their guns drawn, the two men were uncooperative. At one point, the officers had to use a Taser gun to subdue the suspects.
After speaking with the two suspects, police now believe that one of the men could be responsible for a different robbery committed earlier in the week.
