Over 66,000 Warrants are Outstanding in San Diego

There are currently 66,730 outstanding arrest warrants in San Diego County. According to reports, while a small number of crimes were committed by first time offenders, most crimes were committed by veteran criminals that have had warrants issued for their arrests. An interview with a San Diego County sheriff revealed just how many criminals remain wanted in the area. With so many warrants outstanding, San Diego police are working hard to track down offenders. The sheriff added that while this year's number seems high, it is actually down from the year before when there were 71,340 warrants outstanding.

Of current outstanding warrants 43% are bench warrants. A bench warrant is usually issued when a defendant does not show up to court and the judge is forced to take action. At this time, less than half of the outstanding warrants are for felonies. There are currently 17,000 warrants for felony offenses such as including battery, burglary and murder. If a warrant has been issued in your name, it is important that you take immediate action to protect yourself. One thing you can do is hire a San Diego criminal defense attorney from our office who can help you address your warrant. To get legal help, contact the Superior Law Center now.
