People Caught Using Fake Travelers Checks
As long as there is a way to make a quick buck, there are people who will try to figure out how. Three people in Oakland, California were arrested last week for attempting to use fake travelers checks.
Police were called to a mall last week when a store clerk reported the crime. She claimed that a customer had tried to use what seemed like a fake check to buy a small amount of items. A similar call went out at the same time and more officers were sent to that location. Based on evidence and witness testimony gathered at both scenes, police were able to identify their suspects.
Two men and one woman, ranging in age from 20 to 25, were arrested for various white collar crimes including conspiracy to commit a crime and
burglary. One of the suspects was not stranger to breaking the law as he was already had a warrant out for his arrest. He was wanted for
assault with a deadly weapon and
robbery. The other male was out on probation for similar crimes.
